Requirements
Responsibilities
Conduct thorough eye examinations utilizing medical terminology and anatomy knowledge to assess visual acuity, ocular health, and physiological functions.
Diagnose and manage a broad spectrum of ophthalmic conditions including glaucoma, cataracts, neuro-ophthalmic disorders, and pediatric eye issues.
Perform ophthalmic surgical procedures such as cataract removal, glaucoma interventions, and other laser or microsurgical treatments following aseptic technique standards.
Manage clinical trials and participate in research laboratory projects to contribute to advancements in ophthalmology practices.
Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) using systems like Epic or EMR platforms while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver patient-centered care tailored to senior care, acute care settings, or specialized populations.
Educate patients on treatment options, medication management, and preventive eye health strategies while documenting medical records meticulously.
Stay current with medical coding practices related to ophthalmology procedures and diagnoses to ensure proper billing and compliance.
Skills
Extensive knowledge of ophthalmology including clinical diagnosis, surgical techniques, and management of complex eye conditions.
Proven experience in clinical research, clinical trials, and laboratory settings within the field of ophthalmology.
Strong understanding of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and healthcare diagnosis related to eye health.
Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or EMR platforms; familiarity with medical coding standards is preferred.
Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively across diverse populations including pediatrics and senior care patients.
Ability to perform ophthalmic surgical procedures with precision while adhering to aseptic techniques.
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations for safeguarding patient information and maintaining confidentiality at all times.
Experience managing acute care cases involving neuro-ophthalmic disorders or glaucoma management strategies.
